Life in Bogota\ vida en Bta

After Cartagena, we flew to Bogota to spend time with family and friends...here is a summary of our time.

Enjoying a great meal of potato soup with the family.

We went on a "bus tour" of Bogota using the bus system called "Transmillienio". Apparently i wasn't supposed to take any pictures of the transport system, but with Marcos in the carrier, I likely didn't look too suspicious.

Along the streets were vendors selling palta, watermelon and bananas, and behind them a bike taxi passes by.
Another bike taxi.

the sign in the bus shows that the bus has a capacity of 160 people. 112 of these 160 passengers are expected to be standing.
El bus dice que caben 160personas en total, de esos 112 van de pie.
Streets were filled with lots of taxis and motorcycles.
Las calles repletas de taxis y motos.

the bus system has it's own lanes in the city, so we whizzed by the lines and lines of traffic.

Marcos has a fascination for cell phones....oh no, it is starting already. He walks around saying "hola".
On Christmas Eve, we rented a small van and did a tour of the city to look at Christmas lights. In the background is a well lit tree in the central plaza.
One building was impressively decorated with winter scenes in the background - here Marcos is with his Aunt Jackie and Uncle Tommy.

Christmas Day we went for a walk in the neighborhood - Bogotanos take Christmas decorations to another level - with Santa Claus parachuting down into the street.
