Hoy fue un dia bastante largo. A las 7:30 a.m. llego el transporte para llevarnos a mi (Aída) y Marcos desde el hospital St. Bonifacio hasta el Hospital de Niños. Ya en el hospital nos reunimos con Alden y esperamos a que el doctor que iba a operarlo hablara con nosotros. Marcos entro a cirugia a las 8:30 y la primera idea era hacerlo con anestesia local (una inyección en la columna- epidural), pero no resulto asi que le pusieron anestesia general. Hacia las 12 del medio día el doctor nos aviso que todo había salido bien. A las 12:30 pudimos verlo en recuperación, allí tuvo varias apneas (cuando deja de respirar) por lo que tuvieron que ponerle oxigeno. Eso es algo que sucede con los bebes prematuros cuando son colocados bajo anestesia. Hacia las 2:30 Marcos y yo (Aída) volvimos al hospital St Bonifacio, donde será su recuperación.
Marcos debe estar pensando que la próxima vez que tenga su fuente de comida cerca, no la va a dejar escapar… es la segunda vez en una semana que lo dejan varias horas sin comer. Por todo lo demás esta muy bien. Gracias por sus oraciones.
Today was a long day. At 7:30 the medi-van arrived to pick up me (Aida), Marcos, and a medical team at St. Boniface and transport us to the Children’s hospital where we met up with Alden and the doctor who would perform the operation.
Marcos entered surgery at 8:30. Initially they tried an epidural without luck, and then had to use a general anesthetic. At noon the doctor met with us to pass on the news that the operation went well, and at 12:30 we saw him in recuperation. Unfortunately he had several apneas (stops breathing) which was treated with oxygen. This happens with premature babies when they are under anesthetic. At 2:30 Marcos and I (Aida) returned to ICU at St. Boniface.
Marcos is likely thinking that the next time he has his food close, he will not let it escape – this is the second time in a week that his food supply has been cut off. This evening Marcos had this strange exhausted look, perhaps wondering why this was all happening, or more likely recovering from the anesthetic. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
