Dear Friends and Family,
Aida and I both had a good sleep last night at the hospital. At 5 am this morning we got ready to go see our little boy - Aida for the first time. It was also the first time she got out of bed since arriving at the hospital 36 hours prior. The moment was special for both of us to have the whole family together.
Last night was a tough night for the little guy. Breathing hasn't been going all that well and as a result the respirator is having to assist more. The doctors and nurses are running a number of tests to figure out what is the problem. Today he will have a ultrasound to make sure there is no hemorrhaging in the brain, an xray of the heart, and a dosage of a surfactant (bless) to keep his lungs well lubricated. On the brighter side, the platlet count improved and the electrolyte levels are still normal. I only wished i knew what he was thinking about all this.
Aida is now in the maternity ward, room 22. She can have a maximum of 2 visitors at a time between 2:00 and 8:00 pm. I doubt she will be there much longer than a couple days as her blood pressure is now under control. After that we will be spending our days there taking care of the baby in ICU and back home for a night's rest.
We will try to update this blog as often as possible, and put up a picture this evening of the little guy.

Queridos Amigos y Familia,
Aida y yo dormimos muy bien anoche en el hospital. A las 5 de la manana nos alistamos para ver a nuestro hijo, y para Aida, fue la primer vez. Tambien para ella fue la primera vez de levantarse de la cama desde que habia llegado al hospital 36 horas antes. El momento fue especial para nosotros porque fue una reunion familiar - lo mas grande que habia.
Anoche fue una noche dificil para el bebe. No podia respirar muy bien, y por eso el respirador esta ayudando un poco mas. Los doctores y enfermeras estan haciendo todo lo posible para encontrar el problema. Hoy el bebe va a tener una ecografia para asegurar que no hay hemorragia en el cerebral, una radiografia de la corazon, y una medicacion para aflojar los pulmones. Las buenas noticias incluyen mejores cantidades de placas en la sangre y niveles establecidas de electrolitos. Me gustaria saber que pensaba el chico de todo eso.
Aida esta ahora en la unidad de maternidad, cuarto #22. Puede tener 2 visitas a la vez entre 2 y 8 de la tarde. Dudo que va a estar alla mas que unos dias porque la presion arterial ha bajado a normal - gracias a Dios. Despues que ella reciba la alta, vamos a ir al hospital todos los dias para cuidar el bebe, y la noche en nuestro departamento.
Intentamos a escribir algo aqui todos los dias, y este noche estara una foto de nuestro hijito.
